BALIMORE BUSINESS CATALYST PROGRAM

INFORMATION FOR BUSINESSES

 

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?

  • Supports minority and women-owned businesses in Baltimore City Market Areas. The idea is to help these businesses to scale or pivot to new business models.
  • Program provides technical assistance and/or coaching to increase expertise in areas such as: accounting, marketing, cash flow management, human resource management, technology development, R&D, and government procurement.
  • Businesses will be matched with a list of possible local resource providers (individuals as well of companies), based on business needs.  Businesses will select who to work with from this list.

WHICH COMPANIES ARE ELIGIBLE?

Minority-owned (under SBA Definition) and women-owned businesses in good standing based in the State of Maryland. 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Duly registered and in operation for at least 2 years, with clients and market share;
  • Annual revenues of at least $300,000;
  • Key to the growth and diversification of the local economy;
  • Positioned for growth;
  • Ability to provide in counterpart resources at least 10% to 25% (in cash) of the cost of the services obtained;
  • Ability to make a 2-3 month commitment to the Program to obtain support.

 

NON-PROFITS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE.

PRIORITY SECTORS

Retail; Manufacturing; Services; Logistics; Supply Chain; Technology; Health; Education and additional sectors are also eligible. 

 

 

 

Payments will go directly to the Resource Providers, according to the terms of the service contract.

 

PROCESS

  • Online Application linked to SourceLink w/financial (income) & tax records
  • Interview
  • Action Plan developed  - Resource Provider/Business Owner/Program Manager
  • Training/coaching over a 2 to 3-month engagement based on the Plan.
  • Progress Report and Final Report
  • Client evaluation
  • Commitment to be available 6 months after the training/coaching ends to provide important feedback to the Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development regarding the impact on the business of the technical assistance received;

 

Flexibility built into the Program depending on client needs.
